A Civil Servant At Heart

I am a 6th generation Borderite. Going back through the last few generations, my mother worked at Stafholt Good Samaritan, and my dad was a commercial fisherman. They also owned and operated a small cafe, and my dad eventually became a bus driver for the Blaine School District. My Grandparents on both sides were business owners. My mom's parents owned Goff's Department Store, that operated in downtown Blaine for nearly 100 years. And my dad's parents owned a dry cleaning business.

Throughout my family's history we have always placed a high value on giving back to the community. Both my parents have served on the city council. My mom also served on the parks board. Other family members have been on the planning commission and the school board.

Giving back to the community has always been important to me. I have spent the last 6 years on the Public Works Advisory Committee. I have been Chairperson for the last 2 years. I spent years helping organize the Blaine Christmas Giving Tree. I have also worked to raise money for the Marine Park Playground and the Blaine Food Bank as well as being involved with fundraising efforts for Habitat For Humanity. I am also a former board member and president of the Blaine Community Theater.

I live in the Salishan neighborhood with my wife Brandy and our two amazing kids. I live one block away from the house my great grandfather built in the early 1900s. I have always felt a lot of pride that I have such a long history in Blaine, but I am still looking towards the future.
